The Mirror Sonnet

 (English/Shakespeare Sonnet - ABABCDCD EFEFGG)

Into the mirror I peer,

And I see the wonderful me.

With my features depicted clear,

But there is more in it than the things I see,

There is a mirror inside of everyone,

Which will reflect what you inflict on it,

Like how you shine a mirror on the sun,

You get back what you gave; your face is lit.

You give happiness to get happiness,

You be kind to see kind,

You behave like a mess to deal with a mess,

So what you give is what you find.

It doesn't mean you have to be a mirror;

You forget the savage and just give cheer.

  4. Shriyan!! What a brilliant composition !! To top it , you have been able to meter it and fit into a rhyme scheme too!!! You are going places for sure , kanna!! Never ever stop writing da pattu!
It is so true, that we all have a mirror inside of us . What gets shone on it , is what is received back too! However , let me give you something to think about - you might be able to fathom it fully right away, but I would definitely want you to mull over it . Don’t you think at times, it’s good to be a glass than a mirror ?! At times , the line between right and wrong , the black and white becomes blurry due to certain circumstances, and we might need to be a bit more accommodating and understanding and not dish back out what we received ; we have to let a few things go , let a few things past us , just as a glass would do!!
Loads of love to you Kanna ! I am , and shall continue to be , a huge fan of your writings !!

  9. Hi Shriyandha! Very good thinking and expressions have come out as stone carved . I really wonder how a 10 year old kutti Pongal wants to bring out everything she sees, admires and accept as facts and finally we are blessed to enjoy your mind and mincing of words, in beautiful way.
Expressing in emphatic way shows how much you get into the theme.
    God bless you, my dear.
