Happy Thoughts

When you are angry, When your mind is burning,  Soothe your mind, By thinking happy things. Amidst the stampede of insults, And the tangle of thoughts,  Send on single happy thought into the universe, To cool down the hot. Fire can't be put out without water, The dark won't disappear without light.  Your mind won't calm down, Unless you unleash a happy thought to take  Down your mind's plight. Control your angry outbursts, Trap it in your mind,  Think of a joyful moment,  And peace you will find.  People might say things,  Things might happen,  Unleashing your bottled anger,  Won't make things loosen. Happiness is amazingly powerful, It is magic that brings smiles and grins, It is power we all have, But power we all need to search from within.

Doors

With a new story yet to be told, With a new opportunity waiting, With secrets fierce and bold, Waiting for its opening. With a brand new world to explore, And use it to fine-tune yourself. With brand new stories to narrate, Open the door and give yourself help. You won't know what's inside, Until you pry it open, Let curiousity overtake you, Give the door a chance and let its secrets Be spoken. There might be treasure, there might be traps, Turn the handle and discover new wonders. There might be fun, there might be gloom, Not opening the door will cause hinder. Each handle is a win, each door is a tale, Wait for the time to throw open the door. You won't find opportunities unless you try, So open your mind's closed door to find more.

Happy 4th Birthday, Shriyandhaa's Space!

4 years ago, on the 23rd of August, my mom looked at my notebook of small poems and typed out a few letters on the keyboard and hit the publish button. And just like that, Shriyandhaa's Space started existing. And ever since, I've been filling it with amusing poems, stories, write-ups and other chatter.  And I've progressed from 4-lined gibberish to 2 paragraphed rhymes to decent poems to whatever I write now. And I'm happy about it. I'm also glad that for 4 years the same people have been constantly encouraging me and motivating me and stopping me from giving up. I might be thinking right now that I've come a long way, but this is only the start. There's still a long journey ahead. And there always will be, as long as there's more to discover and learn. Four years ago today, Four hundred posts this day, Two times four is this month, Innumerable musings yet to play. A small collection in a small book,  A big blog on the big Internet, An infinite joy in...

Radio Raucous

I was just reading my old posts, and I had started reminiscing the past. My maternal grandparents had come over. They were listening to songs and stuff on the radio.  "Listen to this magnificent piece of music!" My grandfather said. "Just listen to the background music. Not the lyrics, not the vocals, just the background music. Just the background. See, see now! Listen to the veena. Do you hear the group of violins? Oh, and the cellos? Oh, and the veena? Oh, the flute!" He then started singing along with my grandmother.  "Listen to the keyboard music," my grandfather said, waving his hands through the air like he was a conductor.  "There is no keyboard in this song," my mom informed him. Amidst the collaboration of veenas, violins, flutes and the chatter of my grandparents and mom, my sister was relaxing on the sofa, watching videos on the TV. Then my mom covered her ears and muted the blaring TV. My sister moaned, but silenced herself after a ...

The Breakfast Incident

Usually, when I eat at the dining table, my sister sits next to me. And we while away the long hours of breakfast, lunch and dinner by chatting until our parents come and shout at us. So today, when I was having breakfast, my sister came and occupied her usual spot next to me. We started talking about Roblox and Among Us and other video games, and then my sister did something ridiculous. And really, REALLY gross. She dipped her finger in her peanut chutney and wiped it on my bottle. My eyes widened as I hastily pulled my precious bottle away from  her. "Eww!!! That's SO gross!" I said, as I fumbled to wipe the chutney away. I'm sure you already know that I'm a tit-for-tat kind of girl, so I dipped MY finger in MY chutney and tried to do the same. My finger barely brushed the surface of my sister's bottle, but get this: it wasn't even the chutne-dipped finger : it was just my normal finger, which was still wet from my washed hands. My sister squealed like a...

Happy Independence Day!

What does everyone tell you to be? They tell you to be independent. But if you aren't independent, what will you be? No one likes being dependent.  India was ruled by British,  About 80 years ago. And India never got the chance,  To show that it belonged alone. India is a strong country, It fights wars with movements of peace. But British decided to come take over, Decided that we were timid and weak. Peace is stronger than you might think, Which is what drove the Britishers away. Mahatma Gandhi's peace movement, Showed India the way. India does not fight any wars, Yet India is strong. India is well developed in peace, It has shown mightiness all along. On this day, we come together, To celebrate the day India won independence. Being an Indian is a thing to be proud of, So come join in the celebrations! Let us sing our national anthem, Which is carried to far off places by the wind, There is none as great as being able to say, Jai Hind!

Good Things Take Time

Are you waiting for a miracle, Are you waiting for joy? Are you waiting for hope, Are you waiting for no coy? But in the end you get upset, Because it never comes, You feel like you are, Getting beaten up like drums. But don't let yourself down, Because more good things are yet to come, Good things take time, And there's no way you get to .miss out on fun. Things tend to happen, Slower than we want, But just because they happen slowly,  Doesn't mean they won't. If you miss out on certain fun, You'll get that fun back soon, Just be patient, And then you might even reach the moon. Give it some time, Like you might need time too, Because if you wait, no matter how long, Good things will reach you.

Laughter and Smiles

Are you feeling sad,  Are you feeling low? Do you wish to fly like a bird, But can't do so? Do you wish to swim like a dolphin, But can't do it just yet? Do you wish to be free of worries, But your unbreakable bond with it is set? Are you surrounded by shadows, That smother you till you drop? Are you getting pulled into a black hole, Your worries eat you, and you can't stop? Or perhaps you're scared, Of the dark and doom surrounding you, You feel like it's closing in,   And there's nothing you can do. You're lost in a land of confusion,  Where things are tangled together, Just like your poor mind, Which is in a messy weather. But let me tell you what to do, To beat up all your worries, There's no problem that can't be undone, We'll chase it all away in a flurry. Has it been weeks, Since your lips curled into a smile? Has it been weeks,  Since you used to laugh all the while? Why, you can do it now too! Does there have to be a reason to smile? B...

Friendship Day

A bond which is hard to find, But a bond which is easy to lose, Yet a bond which is worth your time, It's a bond which will help you through. When your mind is in despair, And cannot find its way back, Your friend will pull you out of your trance, They won't let you fall slack. They're there to cheer you up, With a joke which brightens your smile, They bring back the glint in your eyes, Take you to great lengths, thousands of miles. They won't cost a penny, But they're worth millions, But to let go of them, Might cost you billions. Someone who you won't forget, Someone who will ease your worries, When you think of them, So on this day, leave behind any queries... Because it's Friendship Day, Not a moment you can waste, So go wrap your friend in a warm bear hug, Thank them for their kindness and love .
