S Scientists - Chapter 18

 Chapter 18 - The Prank

The S Scientists, as you know, are in great trouble. They currently don't know that, but they will get to, in this very part of the story.

Saketh happily boasted about what had happened, thinking as though it had worked. But anyway, the others were worried. "But don't you think Hi Ho found out that it was just a floatie?" Said Samhitha nervously.

"No! He never found that out. I told you, didn't I? I saw him freak out," said Saketh. "I'm sure it's going to work. Unless he,"

Saketh came to an abrupt stop as the doorbell rang. Shreya went to answer the door. But to her greatest disappointment, it was Hi Ho, his face red, and Shreya was clearly able to see the anger.

Saketh gulped. "Unless he doesn't find out and come here!" He said in a shaky, low tone.

Hi Ho stormed into their house without even asking permission. He marched straight up to Saketh and fiercely leaned over on him.

"One more time I have nonsense with you," said Hi Ho, keeping his voice a bit low. "I SHALL TELL THE POLICE AT ONCE!" saying so, Hi Ho left, slamming the door shut.

Shreya, Samhitha and Shripradhaa stared at Saketh, who was now staring back at them. "I told it wasn't going to work," said Shreya, a bit angry now. "You never listen to us! Why don't you just listen to us for at least once!"

The next week, Saketh was nowhere to be found. That was because he had left for Hi Ho's house during dawn. Shreya was clearly able to see that because Saketh had scribbled a few plans down on a book which was open on the table. Shreya was angrier than anything. She too left for Hi Ho's house. But Saketh was not there. Hi Ho was fast asleep, with ten guards now guarding the house.

Maybe Hi Ho made Saketh go to the police station! He did tell Saketh that he will tell the police. But he said that will happen only after he does something bad to him again. Maybe he complained now itself? Only one way to find out. Shreya left for the nearest police station, but Saketh wasn't there either!

Shreya searched every police station, but she couldn't find him. Then she saw it, he was hanging out with his friend in a HOTEL!

He seemed to have booked a room and started staying there. She saw him laugh and play through the window. She visited his room, which was extremely untidy. His friend was there too. But the laughing stopped as Saketh stared at Shreya, pursing his lips in anger and anxiety. "What are you doing here?" He asked.

"I thought you had gone to visit Hi Ho!" Yelled Shreya. "What about those plans?"

"Oh those," Saketh giggled. "It was a prank!" Shreya stared even wider. "Meet my friend Dodo," said Saketh, pointing to a boy with feathery hair.

"Nice to meet you, birdy," said Shreya, not looking at Dodo.

Her eyes will not leave Saketh. Saketh scowled at her. She scowled back. "I gave the idea of pranking!" Dodo said, in his rather squeaky voice. It seemed quite fake. He was, really, really untidy. He was dressed in rags. Well, it seemed like rags to Shreya.

Now Shreya was scowling at Dodo. "What are you?" She snapped. Dodo's weak smile faded.

"Well, what are you?" He asked, anger rising in his voice. "You are so very uncivilized to treat me like this!"

"Why? Why you in specific?" Shreya spat. She never had been this angry before. "Because... Because..." Dodo didn't want to reveal the secret.

Even Saketh didn't know the secret! "What, Dodo, my friend?" Saketh asked, a note of anxiety in his tone. "What happened?"

"Because.... Because..." Dodo stammered.

Long Lost Sleep

After a long, exhausting day, the only thing all of us look forward to is SLEEP. So, as soon as you finish off the last crumbs on your dinner plate, you fling yourself onto your bed, rest yourself in a comfortable position, get your pillow nice and fluffed up, and throw the blankets on yourself. But then... You just realised that you still have your big, wobbly earrings on. So you throw back the blankets and remove your earrings and leave them in their box. And then you're back in your bed, and just as your eyelids are about to close... You realise that you haven't brushed your teeth. So, yet again, your throw back the blankets and get off the bed, letting the annoying, creaky sound fill your head. And then you throw open the door to your bathroom, get your brush ready and squeeze toothpaste onto it, but... The tube seemed to have a hole on the back, which you sadly hadn't noticed. And you get toothpaste all over your hands. Fuming, you wash your hands and get things done...

So Close, Yet So Far

What you knew you had right beside you What you never knew might leave you What you had neglected for days What you wished was still there, within your gaze. That miniscule amount of hope  That you feel lingering close by You could open out your arms, embrace it, But suddenly it's high in the sky. Once within your grasp, But now away from you, Don't waste a moment on a wee gasp, Time won't stop, and the moving hope too. Each moment is to be caught, Each memory to be cherished, Hold them carefully in your arms, Before they shall vanish. The consistent inkling when you feel, Something close, yet so far, Is only because you know yourself, That it is within your grasp, but not within your confidence. If you're positive enough that you can hold it, The 'it' that is mysterious and something only you know, You can hold the precious 'it', Clutch it tight, don't let it go. You must be close to the end of the day, With its cliffs and slopes and Rocky slides,...

Stars

Shining in the vast night sky, I see them from afar. Dominated by the brighter moon, There glimmer the stars. Mostly hidden by the cruel shadows, Or by the thick, misty clouds. But they do not give up, they still glimmer on, They make their voice be heard loud. Even though they're hardly seen, Even though they're hardly thought of, They know that someday they will be, Thought of, honoured and loved. So take an inspiration from stars, Show your true essence, Continue to shimmer, ignore the darkness, Because one day it'll fear your presence.
