The Meaningless Tunes - 1

Once upon a time, there lived a girl called Fluty. Fluty lived in a village. Fluty loved music, but the problem was, she never knew how to make some. All the music classes she went to did not teach proper music; they only taught her the basics of music, and after that, Fluty will be kicked out for some fake reason. Fluty was upset about this. However and how much ever she tried, it won't work.

One day, Fluty passed by a stall for musical instruments. She seemed to have enough money, so she stopped to buy.

Fluty loved the way the Flute sung, so she purchased one for ₹100.

Fluty put the flute close to her lips and blew. A shreiky, squeaky noise was made. A child with an icecream dropped it in fright.

But Fluty seemed to like it. It had been painted with bright yellow, and there seemed to be a cute mouse's face painted on the bottom of the flute.

Everyday, Fluty sat on the bench by the park and spent at least an hour playing on the flute. But all the children seemed to hate it. It was a bit too squeaky, and it did make meaningless tunes.

There was a stray cat under the bench. It was covered in black and white. It was sleeping. But the sound of the flute woke it up. It came from under the bench, and seemed to be listening with rapt attention to what Fluty was playing.

It was staring, with great, big, yellow meaningful eyes at the flute. Then, Fluty headed back home. The stray cat followed her.

Fluty noticed the cat when she opened her house gate. "Oh, hello! What can I do for you?" said Fluty, as she slipped the flute into her pocket. The cat was now looking at her pocket. "Maybe you need something to eat," said Fluty, and took the cat inside her house.

She first gave it a nice bath, and then fed it. The cat purred. "Maybe I should keep you," said Fluty.

Next morning, Fluty took her cat along with her to the park to play the flute. Today, there were two cats in Fluty's usual spot. She allowed her cat to sit beside the stray cats. Then she merrily played the usual meaningless tunes.

Now all three cats were staring at the flute. But Fluty didn't notice. Fluty, with the three cats walking with eyes fixed on the flute, beside her, went for a walk while playing on the flute.

There were many more cats who seemed interested in the flute. There were totally 16 cats behind Fluty now. All of their eyes were fixed on the flute.

Fluty suddenly caught an eye on the cats. "Well, what do all of you want?" Said Fluty, picking up her cat.

Fluty also noticed that her cat was trying to reach the flute. "Is this what all of you want?" Asked Fluty, looking at the cats' eye positions carefully.

"Why would you want a flute?" She asked. "After all, cats don't play, do they?"

Then suddenly, Fluty's cat caught hold of the flute. All the cats leapt on to Fluty, and together they broke the flute. Hundreds and hundreds of mice came out of the flute. They went in different directions. The cats followed them. Then Fluty understood something. Her cat has followed the flute and not her. The flute had a picture of a mouse, which seemed to indicate that it had mice inside. The flute made a squeaky noise instead of its original tune.

"So it all fits! The flute must be a mouse house. But why would someone want to fill a flute with mice?" Said Fluty.

Long Lost Sleep

After a long, exhausting day, the only thing all of us look forward to is SLEEP. So, as soon as you finish off the last crumbs on your dinner plate, you fling yourself onto your bed, rest yourself in a comfortable position, get your pillow nice and fluffed up, and throw the blankets on yourself. But then... You just realised that you still have your big, wobbly earrings on. So you throw back the blankets and remove your earrings and leave them in their box. And then you're back in your bed, and just as your eyelids are about to close... You realise that you haven't brushed your teeth. So, yet again, your throw back the blankets and get off the bed, letting the annoying, creaky sound fill your head. And then you throw open the door to your bathroom, get your brush ready and squeeze toothpaste onto it, but... The tube seemed to have a hole on the back, which you sadly hadn't noticed. And you get toothpaste all over your hands. Fuming, you wash your hands and get things done...

So Close, Yet So Far

What you knew you had right beside you What you never knew might leave you What you had neglected for days What you wished was still there, within your gaze. That miniscule amount of hope  That you feel lingering close by You could open out your arms, embrace it, But suddenly it's high in the sky. Once within your grasp, But now away from you, Don't waste a moment on a wee gasp, Time won't stop, and the moving hope too. Each moment is to be caught, Each memory to be cherished, Hold them carefully in your arms, Before they shall vanish. The consistent inkling when you feel, Something close, yet so far, Is only because you know yourself, That it is within your grasp, but not within your confidence. If you're positive enough that you can hold it, The 'it' that is mysterious and something only you know, You can hold the precious 'it', Clutch it tight, don't let it go. You must be close to the end of the day, With its cliffs and slopes and Rocky slides,...

Stars

Shining in the vast night sky, I see them from afar. Dominated by the brighter moon, There glimmer the stars. Mostly hidden by the cruel shadows, Or by the thick, misty clouds. But they do not give up, they still glimmer on, They make their voice be heard loud. Even though they're hardly seen, Even though they're hardly thought of, They know that someday they will be, Thought of, honoured and loved. So take an inspiration from stars, Show your true essence, Continue to shimmer, ignore the darkness, Because one day it'll fear your presence.
