Golu Season 2

Ep4 Soundariya Lahari 22&25

Hello and welcome back to Golu Season 2. This episode features the 22nd and 25th Slokas of the Soundariya Lahari, written by Adi Shakara Charya. The Soundariya Lahari is really very important to us, you may know or not know how much it helps us.

Hello friends! This is the start point.

Here are the Slokas:

Sloka

Mukunda-brahmendra-sphuta-

Makuta-neeraajita padaam

Meaning

Oh Bhavani (consort of 'Bhava meaning 'Shiva)! One who utters the twin syllables of "Bhavani tvam" (Oh Bhavani You!) desiring to extol You in worship expressing the craving "Kindly direct Your merciful sight towards me", conferred by You merger with Yourself understanding the words to mean 'May I be on Your feet which have been lit up with radiance from the crowns of Vishnu, Brahma and Indra.

Sloka

Bhavetpooja poojatava

Charanayoryaa virachitaa

Manipeethasya nikate

Karottamsa makutaa:

Meaning

Oh Consort of Shiva! Whatever worship is performed at Your feet it becomes worship automatically of triumvirate deities who were born out of Your the dispositions (Satva, Rajas and Tamas). It is but appropriate indeed that these three are always standing near the gem-studded for-rest of Yours with their palms joined in salutation over their crowns.

While we learn, we always need a break. Let's see the Navratri Special Food today.

It's Sundal, but a different type. It's Kadala Parupu Sundal, a little tastier than Verkadillai Sundal. Kadala Parupu is another type of Dahl, commonly used. It is used for vegetables. Mm!!! It's so yummy!!! Can't stop eating it, right! Oh well, let's move on.

The Navratri Special Kolam is the star Kolam, very common, even a few kids know how to put it.

Thanks a lot for reading through!

And remember to tune in by tomorrow evening for ep5!

Bye!!

  2. Shri Lalithambika charanam
The meaning and importance of the nama "Bhavani" I could learn from your post. May Guruvayur appan bless you all. Your yammy kadala paruppu sundal as you said we use to have that taste almost daily in our vegetable items. The description about star kolam though it is simple and easy yet it gives a Devine and graceful look in front of the Navaratri golu . Expecting eagerly for next episode. From Today 3 days Goddess take the form of MahaLakshmi.

Long Lost Sleep

After a long, exhausting day, the only thing all of us look forward to is SLEEP. So, as soon as you finish off the last crumbs on your dinner plate, you fling yourself onto your bed, rest yourself in a comfortable position, get your pillow nice and fluffed up, and throw the blankets on yourself. But then... You just realised that you still have your big, wobbly earrings on. So you throw back the blankets and remove your earrings and leave them in their box. And then you're back in your bed, and just as your eyelids are about to close... You realise that you haven't brushed your teeth. So, yet again, your throw back the blankets and get off the bed, letting the annoying, creaky sound fill your head. And then you throw open the door to your bathroom, get your brush ready and squeeze toothpaste onto it, but... The tube seemed to have a hole on the back, which you sadly hadn't noticed. And you get toothpaste all over your hands. Fuming, you wash your hands and get things done...

So Close, Yet So Far

What you knew you had right beside you What you never knew might leave you What you had neglected for days What you wished was still there, within your gaze. That miniscule amount of hope  That you feel lingering close by You could open out your arms, embrace it, But suddenly it's high in the sky. Once within your grasp, But now away from you, Don't waste a moment on a wee gasp, Time won't stop, and the moving hope too. Each moment is to be caught, Each memory to be cherished, Hold them carefully in your arms, Before they shall vanish. The consistent inkling when you feel, Something close, yet so far, Is only because you know yourself, That it is within your grasp, but not within your confidence. If you're positive enough that you can hold it, The 'it' that is mysterious and something only you know, You can hold the precious 'it', Clutch it tight, don't let it go. You must be close to the end of the day, With its cliffs and slopes and Rocky slides,...

Stars

Shining in the vast night sky, I see them from afar. Dominated by the brighter moon, There glimmer the stars. Mostly hidden by the cruel shadows, Or by the thick, misty clouds. But they do not give up, they still glimmer on, They make their voice be heard loud. Even though they're hardly seen, Even though they're hardly thought of, They know that someday they will be, Thought of, honoured and loved. So take an inspiration from stars, Show your true essence, Continue to shimmer, ignore the darkness, Because one day it'll fear your presence.
