The Better Point Of View

The sun shone bright throughout the summer which

Dreamt of the smiling faces of humans, lit

By the sun

As they rejoice under the bright sunlight

As the echoes of their laughter tell tales of fun.

But what does summer discover reality as,

But people, struggling under the heavy heat

Faces of dread - not delight,

How could summer have known that

The people took a different view of it all?

The trees stood gracefully, housing

Tiny critters and birds

But the axemen saw it of different use

And cut down the arboreal creatures' world.

How could the trees have known

That they'd be used to make wood

Wooden furnices, inside a home

But not a home instead?

Flowers, misapprehended by allergic people

Heights, misunderstood by the afraid

Spiders, mistaken by the non-insect-lovers,

The dark, misinterpreted by the timid.

Why not see the beauty in flowers from afar

Rather than judge them for their sneeze-evoking

Scent?

Why not admire the beautiful views heights house

Rather than the supposed danger

Within?

Why not marvel at the miniscule spiders

That are but living beings, just like us?

Why not gaze at the stars that appear

During none other time than dark -

You're not being just.

Let's all be honest - there have been times

Where we have gauged a person/thing

For the negative outcomes only

But why do we never focus on

The better positive ones?

Blinded

Blinded by the dissatisfactory result

Rather than brushing it off aside

To focus on

The spark amongst the dark

That could possibly ignite

A wonderful flame.

Behind The Mask

Behind the clouds  Is the hidden sky, so far, Behind the plasters, A nasty scar, Behind the curtains,  Are bright windows  But behind a mask - It is not for show. Not until you tumble into the trap,  Stay trapped there, in disguised gloom  Without realising it - And then go deeper and deeper  To discover what really looms. Then realisation strikes - How they behaved, how they feigned The hidden meaning behind every wave  You've found it. And the rage, You try to stifle it with much courage, But instead, burn down the page, And whoops - that leads you to your cage. But in the end, the mask is gone - To reveal an atrocity, so from it begone Don't explain, on its own will it dawn - Upon others, just the way it did on you - Ignore their every scorn. Just wait for their mask to be openly torn.

So Close, Yet So Far

What you knew you had right beside you What you never knew might leave you What you had neglected for days What you wished was still there, within your gaze. That miniscule amount of hope  That you feel lingering close by You could open out your arms, embrace it, But suddenly it's high in the sky. Once within your grasp, But now away from you, Don't waste a moment on a wee gasp, Time won't stop, and the moving hope too. Each moment is to be caught, Each memory to be cherished, Hold them carefully in your arms, Before they shall vanish. The consistent inkling when you feel, Something close, yet so far, Is only because you know yourself, That it is within your grasp, but not within your confidence. If you're positive enough that you can hold it, The 'it' that is mysterious and something only you know, You can hold the precious 'it', Clutch it tight, don't let it go. You must be close to the end of the day, With its cliffs and slopes and Rocky slides,...

Stars

Shining in the vast night sky, I see them from afar. Dominated by the brighter moon, There glimmer the stars. Mostly hidden by the cruel shadows, Or by the thick, misty clouds. But they do not give up, they still glimmer on, They make their voice be heard loud. Even though they're hardly seen, Even though they're hardly thought of, They know that someday they will be, Thought of, honoured and loved. So take an inspiration from stars, Show your true essence, Continue to shimmer, ignore the darkness, Because one day it'll fear your presence.
