To: My Brain

Oh, you great blob of gooey network,

Why won't you listen to me?

You belong to me after all,

And I won't have you now if it's not

You I really need.

Will you please stop thinking,

Of things I don't want to think about?

And will you stop seeing things,

That make me want to shout?

Don't blame it on the eyes,

Because as we speak the eyes cry!

You're the one controlling the pair,

Making them look at the frustrating things,

Leaving them in despair!

Why do you make me smell things,

That are absolutely revolting?

Why can't you make me stop,

Since you're the one controlling everything?

Don't point at the nose,

Don't turn the blame,

Stop making me do things I don't want to,

I don't like this game!

Why do I have to say things,

That I later regret?

Why won't you make me stop,

Before the lectures I will get?

Don't scold the mouth,

The mouth has nothing to do with those shouts.

I know it's all you,

So stop making me cry, boo hoo!

Why do you make me daring,

At the moment which is too wrong?

Then that's when I've lost everything,

When I'm hurt and bruised all along.

Don't shout at the legs,

Or the hands,

Because I know it's you,

You control the whole band!

Why do you make me eavesdrop,

When I don't want to?

Why can't you make me stop,

When I really really want to?

Don't confront the ears,

Because from the ears I hear

That you have your buttons to press,

To control all of them, just to add onto the stress.

Why, my dear brain, are you so stubborn?

Making me do things I don't like.

But you're also the one who has helped me write this poem,

And your good thoughts have no limit, not even the sky.

However , I think you should be little lenient towards your brain as it is the one which is making you adept at writing and helping you retain every little memory, and helping you to think up of fun things to do ! What a piece of wonder our human brain is , indeed !!

Long Lost Sleep

After a long, exhausting day, the only thing all of us look forward to is SLEEP. So, as soon as you finish off the last crumbs on your dinner plate, you fling yourself onto your bed, rest yourself in a comfortable position, get your pillow nice and fluffed up, and throw the blankets on yourself. But then... You just realised that you still have your big, wobbly earrings on. So you throw back the blankets and remove your earrings and leave them in their box. And then you're back in your bed, and just as your eyelids are about to close... You realise that you haven't brushed your teeth. So, yet again, your throw back the blankets and get off the bed, letting the annoying, creaky sound fill your head. And then you throw open the door to your bathroom, get your brush ready and squeeze toothpaste onto it, but... The tube seemed to have a hole on the back, which you sadly hadn't noticed. And you get toothpaste all over your hands. Fuming, you wash your hands and get things done...

So Close, Yet So Far

What you knew you had right beside you What you never knew might leave you What you had neglected for days What you wished was still there, within your gaze. That miniscule amount of hope  That you feel lingering close by You could open out your arms, embrace it, But suddenly it's high in the sky. Once within your grasp, But now away from you, Don't waste a moment on a wee gasp, Time won't stop, and the moving hope too. Each moment is to be caught, Each memory to be cherished, Hold them carefully in your arms, Before they shall vanish. The consistent inkling when you feel, Something close, yet so far, Is only because you know yourself, That it is within your grasp, but not within your confidence. If you're positive enough that you can hold it, The 'it' that is mysterious and something only you know, You can hold the precious 'it', Clutch it tight, don't let it go. You must be close to the end of the day, With its cliffs and slopes and Rocky slides,...

Stars

Shining in the vast night sky, I see them from afar. Dominated by the brighter moon, There glimmer the stars. Mostly hidden by the cruel shadows, Or by the thick, misty clouds. But they do not give up, they still glimmer on, They make their voice be heard loud. Even though they're hardly seen, Even though they're hardly thought of, They know that someday they will be, Thought of, honoured and loved. So take an inspiration from stars, Show your true essence, Continue to shimmer, ignore the darkness, Because one day it'll fear your presence.
