The Story of Smartness

Once upon a time, there were two best friends - Smarty and Smacky. Of course, they'll encounter very big, huge, gigantic quarrels in between each other, but within a week, a WEEK I mean, they'll be friends again.

One day, one such quarrel broke up during a mere hide and seek game between them. "I'm the best hide and seek player!" howled Smacky. "Okay, but I'm still 2 times better than you!" Growled Smarty.

This same argument continued for, about an hour? Or more, but never less. Then Smarty finally came to a smart conclusion just like him. "Okay, I'll hide, and you find me!" He said. "But I can be anywhere - just ANYWHERE! Around the world, I mean. So, you better keep your keen eye clean!"

Smarty was off in a dash, searching for some random place in the world. "8, 9, 10! Ready or not, here I come!" Shouted Smacky, on the top of his voice, hoping the faraway Smarty will hear him.

"Oh, I shouldn't have accepted this challenge after all!" Cried Smacky. "Now I'll have to search every house, every hotel, every resort, every street, every road, every city, every town, every village, every state, every country, every continent, every hole, every tree, every shop, every Inn, every office, every school, every colleague, every... Just EVERYWHERE!"

Smarty kept shifting. He never stayed in one place. And, after 1 year, 1 month, 28 days, 3 hours and 43 minutes, Smacky finally gave up and sent Smarty a message: "I give up. I give up on this game. You are the best hide and seek player. You are the smartest of them all, o mighty Smarty!"

And after 2 hours, Smarty came back, grinning.

"I hope you learnt your lesson, Smacky," Smarty said. Smacky put up a puzzled face. "This is after all a mere game. I had thought this up long time back, I mean, long time back even the hide and seek game. It was very foolish of us to quarrel over some stupid game some man had created, and also, everyone is equal. Be it in Science, Math, English, or any other subject or concept or thing, we are all equally smart. And none of us won in this cowardly game. So, don't feel bad about it."

Smacky slightly smiled. For once in his lifetime, he thought having Smarty as a friend was very good, very good indeed.

  1. Super Shriyandhaa. Wonderful concept and a good conclusion for this Hide and seek game. After all it is a game. Everybody is a winner. Today winner and Tomorrow winner. No heart burnings. Game is to be played in good spirit and should create equality only. All are equal in the eyes of the God.

So Close, Yet So Far

What you knew you had right beside you What you never knew might leave you What you had neglected for days What you wished was still there, within your gaze. That miniscule amount of hope  That you feel lingering close by You could open out your arms, embrace it, But suddenly it's high in the sky. Once within your grasp, But now away from you, Don't waste a moment on a wee gasp, Time won't stop, and the moving hope too. Each moment is to be caught, Each memory to be cherished, Hold them carefully in your arms, Before they shall vanish. The consistent inkling when you feel, Something close, yet so far, Is only because you know yourself, That it is within your grasp, but not within your confidence. If you're positive enough that you can hold it, The 'it' that is mysterious and something only you know, You can hold the precious 'it', Clutch it tight, don't let it go. You must be close to the end of the day, With its cliffs and slopes and Rocky slides,...

Stars

Shining in the vast night sky, I see them from afar. Dominated by the brighter moon, There glimmer the stars. Mostly hidden by the cruel shadows, Or by the thick, misty clouds. But they do not give up, they still glimmer on, They make their voice be heard loud. Even though they're hardly seen, Even though they're hardly thought of, They know that someday they will be, Thought of, honoured and loved. So take an inspiration from stars, Show your true essence, Continue to shimmer, ignore the darkness, Because one day it'll fear your presence.

Laughter and Smiles

Are you feeling sad,  Are you feeling low? Do you wish to fly like a bird, But can't do so? Do you wish to swim like a dolphin, But can't do it just yet? Do you wish to be free of worries, But your unbreakable bond with it is set? Are you surrounded by shadows, That smother you till you drop? Are you getting pulled into a black hole, Your worries eat you, and you can't stop? Or perhaps you're scared, Of the dark and doom surrounding you, You feel like it's closing in,   And there's nothing you can do. You're lost in a land of confusion,  Where things are tangled together, Just like your poor mind, Which is in a messy weather. But let me tell you what to do, To beat up all your worries, There's no problem that can't be undone, We'll chase it all away in a flurry. Has it been weeks, Since your lips curled into a smile? Has it been weeks,  Since you used to laugh all the while? Why, you can do it now too! Does there have to be a reason to smile? B...
